Does your school have a safety plan?

CINCINNATI - Five years after every Ohio school was supposed to submit floor plans and safety plans, several dozen schools are not in compliance with the law.

Attorney General Mike DeWine sent letters to administrators of schools on the list that have not submitted the required information and expects all schools in Ohio to be in compliance by this fall.

The plans are compiled into a database that is accessible by members of law enforcement when they are responding to an emergency at a school. DeWine says the information on floor plans and safety plans are secure documents that are not available to the public.

Since the deadly shooting in Chardon in February, at least 320 schools have submitted their plans to the AG's office. DeWine says Chardon was in compliance with the law when the shooting happened earlier this year.

The list is always changing, however, as more schools submit data.

The only Tri-State school on the list is Georgetown Jr./Sr. High School in Brown County.
