Retailers tell me parents will easily spend at least $150 to $200 dollars per child this school year.
The tighter budgets on school districts are making the school supply lists slightly longer than usual, according to local retailers. Store managers have noticed parents spending an average of $150 - $200 per child this school year.
A new website that launched in April claims to help with that school supply burden.
It is called CouponTrade.com .
A parent who plans to shop at Walmart or Target could go to the website and purchase a gift card from someone who does not want their own. For example, a $50 gift card would sell for $43. The saving of just $7 may seem small, but could add up when buying school supplies.
The site can also be used for daily deals like Groupon where some shoppers buy off of impulse, and then realize they do not need the deal.
They could sale say a $30 coupon for $25, and only lose $5 from the deal.
CouponTrade.com is free and claims to feature secure privacy settings.
