Neon, animal prints, plaids and academic chic are all in

Geekchic, preppy, neon and animal print are all back to school essentials for tweens and teens. We scoured the fashion magazines, hit the mall and called on some fashion experts to tell us what styles are rocking the classrooms this year.

The big colors this year are neon; shirts, shoes and accessories.

For the girls you'll be seeing splashes of animal prints from head to toe.  And layering, layering, layering.  We found sweaters over summer dresses and sweaters over tank are very popular this year.

For gals and guys plaid is big.  If you always get a new pair of jeans before heading back, the magazine fashion experts are putting their money on skinny jeans and dark denim this year.

Varsity jackets, collegiate sweatshirts are what we call academic chic. Macy's says that is big for back to school.

You also can't go wrong with graphic tees and hoodies for guys.

And the fashion doesn't stop there...Now it's jumping from the runways to the hallways. Enter the locker looks.

You can light it up with a LED chandelier or add magnetic pen holders and trendy whiteboards to leave your locker partner notes.
