First year students can be overwhelmed, but many mobile apps can help ease the tension of a freshman experience.
With college housing, textbooks, professors, new roomates and an unknown campus, new students could use all the help they can get.
GetJar, the world's second largest mobile app store, compiled a list of the top five mobile apps for every college student.
Social Networking Apps:
Studnets can make friends much easier with these, whether its a study group or someone they just met a bookstore, apps like SoMo, Social Bookmarks and Friends Connector help students stay connected.
Map Apps:
Navigating a new campus isn't easy, where is Joseph Hall anyway? Apps like Zhiing, Vicinity, CitySearch and SpotMe! help students stay safe and timely across campus.
Safety Apps:
Safety is a parent's number one concern and students will want to be conscious of it, too. TaxiPal, Taxi V1.01 and HandyNumbers can all help students arrive safe and sound, no matter the destination.
Activities Guide:
Students can get involved around campus in many ways, and apps like Management Society TSEC will help make it easy to do so.
Educational tools:
Educational apps cover a variety of topics from language translators to word processors, even financial tools for those on their own for the first time. Finance Calculator and Xeladico are great assistants to help first-year students keep on track.
